Member Questions after reading of Financials

Are we still paying $500/month for storage?

Yes we have spoken with the storage company about the options of smaller units and cost of those units.

How much of the storage space is  furniture?
A number of equipment and other furniture was brought to the storage unit. The Facilitator and Treasurer will be going to the unit this week to make an assessment of what is there to clean out and get rid of anything that we can to reduce our storage unit size.

If we didn’t have any furniture, would we need any storage? Yes we still have  other items that are not furniture that are buried in the back that we need to go in and see what we can do with those items.

Define “furniture” in this context. is spanking bench “furniture”, or is mundane stuff like sofas and chairs “furniture?  Furniture would be couches tables chairs, anything that is vanilla in nature.  Scene Equipment pieces would not be considered  furniture.

Have we considered selling any of the equipment that is in storage, to raise revenue? Yes we have and that is being worked on.

OK, so he (Impact Studios) can’t use it for his current purposes?

I thought he was making content/videos. We are not sure about what he is doing and he has not reached out asking to purchase any equipment?

All non-furniture of any kind, pay a member to put in their basement.  That is something we can look into when we have a better idea of what is there.  There is concern about damage and liability if stored with members.

What efforts are underway to increase revenue?  As of right now we don’t have any concrete things that we have in the pipeline.  Looking at selling off items to bring in non-recurring  income.  We are working on membership and getting people to host events and plan classes so that we have some revenue in. If we can get people coming to events that should increase membership.

What about the Middletown diner for a munch? The last 2 months it was in the works. The Ombudsman was working on that before they stepped down. The Facilitator will  be following up with him and see how far he has gotten and start from there.

Old Business

  1. Equipment lent to Impact Studios:  Borrowed equipment has been returned to the storage unit. Facilitator will be going out to the unit this week to verify the return of all equipment and check the condition of the equipment.
  2. Open Board Position: There is one  open board position, due to the Secretary resigning. Tasha was the only nominee. The current member at large has been filling in to handle the Secretary duties.  The Co-Facilitator will be putting up the vote on the website and voting will run until  Sunday October 23, 2022.  Tasha will be posting a candidate statement on the FetLife Group.  Voting will be a Yes/No vote as there is only one person running for the position.
  3. By-laws, Membership and Society 101 Update:  The Member at Large has been putting in a lot of work in making updates. Board Members had a meeting and worked on sections of the by-laws  to make sure that they are consistently written and key sections are updated to reflect the current situation of not having a physical space.

New Business

  1. Membership Pricing:  We have discussed lowering membership prices slightly due to the limitations of what we can offer and what we have.   This would be an actual price change not a “sale” price. Membership prices are set yearly by the  Board as part of their duties to the organization.
  2. Upcoming Meeting Dates:  November meeting date has been changed to  the first Sunday  November 6, 2022.   Board meeting at 4pm and Town Meeting at 7pm  Reminder Daylight Savings that weekend.
  3. Open Ombudsman Position: The Ombudsman resigned.   If anyone is or knows someone who wants to serve as the Ombudsman Nominations will be accepted until Saturday November 5, 2022 at 11:59pm
